HEADING TO COWBOY
CAMP FOR A DAY WITH SKYSHOWTIME
words by SONNY NGO
On September 25th, SkyShowtime hosted an exclusive cowboy camp experience to celebrate and tease the upcoming episodes for season 5B of hit series Yellowstone at the Horse Paradise Stables in Amsterdam. It was an exciting day and immersed us into the stylised world of series’ creator Taylor Sheridan.
As we arrived at the ranch, we were greeted by Dutch celebrity and dancer Timor Steffens who hosted the day for us. Inside, a beautiful BBQ lunch was laid out for us on a cozy wooden table, all in a Western style and packaging. Afterwards, Kai Finke, chief content officer at SkyShowtime gave us glimpses into the upcoming fifth season, as well as introducing us to future titles in the Taylor Sheridan-universe. The nerve-wracking Landman about a fight for oil premieres on November 20th, and the second season of Lioness will hit the platform November first.
But the true highlights of the camp were our training experiences to become cowboy and cowgirls ourselves. We got dressed for the occasion in the stables, receiving proper boots, a denim jacket and, of course, a fitting cowboy hat. Ready to go, we started off with Lasso 101. With two guides teaching us to lasso, a fiery and fun competition sparked out of our group.
And what is a cowboy without their horse? Certified horse specialist Bo Kasbergen taught us the basics of horsemanship. It was an effervescent experience and riled our group up, while we kept our cool, because if anything, a horse reflects your posture and energy.
We closed the day with a drink and a bite at the bar outside, which was customised in Yellowstone elements and themes. Though the weather may not have been the sunniest, the people and experiences sure did brighten up the day, as we left the ranch feeling confident in our newly attained skills.
The newest episodes for the second half of season 5 will exclusively premiere on SkyShowtime starting November 14th and will surely draw you back into the cowboy world as well. Oh and great news for fans, a spin off called The Madison, starring none other than Michelle Pfeiffer has been confirmed as well, so be sure to catch up to the series while you still can.
