IN CONVERSATION WITH CLTX
interview by Marie-Pauline Cesari
It’s always a joy to share the stories of those who inspire us, and today feels extra special.
Meet CLTX, the Parisian-born DJ and producer who’s been setting dance floors ablaze, from underground warehouse raves to the world’s most iconic techno stages. His journey is one of rebellion, passion, and authenticity, blending raw techno energy with a punk edge that’s entirely his own. For this feature, we’re thrilled to showcase exclusive portraits captured by the legendary Sven Marquardt, whose striking photography perfectly complements CLTX’s bold and fearless persona.
As a good friend, I couldn’t be prouder to share this interview, diving into his evolution as an artist, the stories behind his signature pink rebellion, and what’s next for this unstoppable force.
Clem, your journey from raving in Paris warehouses to headlining Berlin’s most iconic techno spots is wild! What first hooked you into the scene? Can you remember the moment you knew music was your path?
Thank you! I vividly remember being at a warehouse rave in Paris around 2016/2017—basically my second home back then. I was surrounded by this raw energy, incredible sound, and a tight- knit community, and it hit me: This is where I belong. Those nights inspired me to start shaping my own sound and exploring my connection with music.
Looking back, what’s been the highlight so far? Whether it was a release, a crowd, or a moment mid-set when you just knew, “This is it.”
My South America tours, without a doubt. The crowds there truly feel the music—it's a vibe like no other. The energy exchange is pure magic; it’s an endless love story that I look forward to every year.
If you had to name the most unforgettable spot you’ve played, where would it be? And what made it special?
My Boiler Room in Lyon at Halle Tony Garnier for Encore Lyon. Playing in front of 10,000 people for such an iconic platform was surreal. The energy was electric, and it’s an experience that still feels like a dream. The video’s dropping soon—stay tuned!
Let’s talk pink. It’s become such a defining part of your identity—bold, rebellious... What does pink mean to you?
Pink is rebellion. It breaks traditional codes and flips stereotypes on their head. For me, it’s about creating a unique contrast—mixing pink with punk. That blend defines my style and the energy I bring.
The smiling devil logo has become an iconic symbol for you. Where did it come from, and what does it represent?
It started as a tattoo—a playful nod to the mischievous side of my personality. Over time, it evolved into my alter ego: the happy devil behind the decks. It captures the mischievous, high- energy vibe I aim to bring to every performance.
Your Rave in Pink video is insane—totally anarchic, with that raw, ‘Joker’-esque energy. What inspired that chaotic pink vision? And how does it feel to see people connecting with it now?
I wanted to fuse my two worlds—techno and rock ‘n’ roll—into something theatrical, raw, and unapologetically bold. It’s like taking what we do on weekends and dialing it up to eleven. Seeing people embrace it so wholeheartedly has been incredible.
Berlin seems like such a natural home for your sound and style. How has living here influenced you, musically or personally?
Berlin has shaped me in countless ways. It’s a city that celebrates individuality, and it’s where I’ve found the freedom to express myself without limits. I’ve also met amazing creatives from all over the world who continue to inspire me. It’s home.
Your sound has shifted over the years—from raw, heavy-metal-influenced techno to trance- tinged tracks. How do you keep things fresh while staying true to your roots?
I don’t overthink it—I just follow what feels authentic. My sound has always been rooted in rave, but I’ve layered in trance, industrial percussion, and rock ‘n’ roll vibes. It’s an evolving personality, and I’m always experimenting. Big surprises are coming!
Your style isn’t just about sound—it’s also about visuals, vibe, and energy. Fashion feels like a huge part of your identity, from your performances to your merch. How do you see fashion in your life and career?
Fun fact: I have a degree in fashion marketing! I’ve always loved fashion history, art, and design, so blending it into my career felt natural. My merch reflects my DIY style—I love customizing pieces. Eventually, I’d love to launch a full fashion brand.
You’ve built such a strong connection with your audience—it’s like a Pink movement now! What do you hope your music gives people? Is there a bigger message behind the madness?
For me, it’s all about freedom. Pink and punk symbolize that. I want people to feel wild, let go, and embrace their individuality—no rules, just pure energy.
Lastly, what’s next for you? Any exciting projects we should keep an eye out for?
So much! We’re working on new visuals to take the live show to another level. Musically, I have two EPs dropping soon with incredible collaborations and some unexpected twists. 2025 is going to be my biggest year yet—I can’t wait to share it all with you!
