IN CONVERSATION WITH EMMA BALE
INTERVIEW by MARIA MOTA
It’s the last day of Paris Fashion Week, and we had a moment to catch up with Belgian singer Emma Bale before heading to the Chanel FW25/26 Ready-to-wear show. She shared some of her favorite details from the collection—and just like us, she absolutely loved it! From playful twists on iconic Chanel elements to stunning statement pieces, Emma gave us her take on the show, her go-to beauty favorites, and what she’s been up to.
The last time we spoke was around two years ago. What have you been up to, and what can you tell us about what’s happened since then?
Since we last spoke, I released a new album called 333. Over the past two years, I feel like I’ve grown even more as both an artist and a person. I’ve learned a lot about myself and what my values are. So yes, it’s been quite the journey!
Anything new you’re working on and looking forward to?
I’ve been writing new music! I’m really looking forward to releasing new songs before the summer, so I’ve been focused on that. I’m also so excited to be performing my last album live during festival season, so I’m definitely looking forward to summer and playing a lot of shows!
First memory of Chanel?
My first memory of Chanel would definitely be Chanel No. 5. My grandma always wore it, and she had little perfume bottles all over her house. So whenever I think of Chanel or perfume in general, I always think of her.
When deciding on a makeup look, what kind of tones are you more drawn to?
I’m more drawn to earthy colors, shades like taupe or brown. Warmer tones suit me better since my undertones aren’t very warm ahaha.
One makeup product you can’t live without?
Blush! And when it comes to blush, I think I prefer a peachy tone over pink.
Describe in three words how you’re feeling right now after watching the show.
I’m in the mood to play! The collection was so playful, so I’d say: playful, chic, and feminine.
Favorite looks, pieces, or details?
I loved the shoes with the pearl heel, I thought those were so cool. I loved the mini mini purses. There was also this jacket that looked like a raincoat, and it was beautiful. I loved all the layering, like the thin tulle over the classic Chanel looks. Honestly, I loved everything. It was very Chanel but playful at the same time. They reinvented themselves once again, adding a fun twist to their signature elements, the ribbons, tweed, bows, and pearls. Those details really stood out!
If you could ask the Chanel studio one question, what would it be?
I would love to know the inspiration behind this collection—when and how they decided to take a more playful approach with everything that defines Chanel.
And lastly, when will we see you again?
I hope soon!!! Very soon, stay tuned!
