IN CONVERSATION WITH THE GANG IS BEAUTIFUL

Growing from a lifestyle to a full fletched creative movement, The Gang Is Beautiful is a multidisciplinary collective that shares a riveting enthusiasm for all things fashion, night life, music, and above all, community. Bringing an unparalleled blend of the arts with a sense of family, TGIB celebrates diversity and inclusivity and does so by creating an open space for everyone to discover themselves. On November 16th, in collaboration with Lofi, they are set to ignite Amsterdam with their musical prowess.

Your journey began with a mantra that evolved into a cultural movement. Could you walk us through the key moments that transformed The Gang Is Beautiful from an idea into a multidisciplinary collective?

Our journey with The Gang Is Beautiful began as a mantra, a call to embrace authenticity, diversity, and unity. Initially, it was a simple expression of self-love and acceptance, something we shared within our circles, but as the world evolved and so did the needs of our community, it blossomed into something far bigger. The shift came when we realized the mantra resonated deeply with people across diverse backgrounds, identities, and stories. We started hosting small gatherings, spaces where everyone could feel truly seen, supported, and celebrated. From there, we organically expanded into events, fashion, and creative entrepreneurship. The moment we started collaborating with cultural pioneers and artists, designers, photographers, and musicians who valued the same things we did The Gang Is Beautiful evolved from a lifestyle into a movement. We became a multidisciplinary collective because we wanted to reach people in every form possible, from nightlife experiences to fashion and visual art, creating spaces that echo our belief in radical inclusion and creative freedom.

Your upcoming hosting at Lofi features a diverse lineup including Léa Occhi and Najel Monteiro. How does your music curation philosophy reflect your broader mission of cultural diversity and inclusion?

Music isn’t just about entertainment, it’s about creating a soundscape where people from all walks of life can feel at home. For our lineup at Lofi, which includes Léa Occhi and Najel Monteiro and our very own Prance, we’ve chosen musicians who aren’t only skilled at their craft but who embody the spirit of cultural fusion and the beauty of self-expression. Our curation is guided by a belief in amplifying voices and sounds that reflect the diversity of our world. Each artist brings their own unique perspective, vibe, and story to the table, creating an experience that’s as multifaceted as our community. We want the music to be a platform for connecting, where rhythms and beats speak to the shared human experience, blending genres and backgrounds in a way that resonates with our mission for inclusivity and unity.

There's often a delicate balance between growing as a brand and maintaining authentic community connections. How do you navigate this while expanding into different creative territories?

Staying true to our roots while growing is something we’re always mindful of. For us, expansion isn’t about pushing a product or an image, it’s about extending our family. Every decision we make is checked against our core values: inclusivity, authenticity, and community. We actively engage with our community, not just through events or products but through genuine conversations, collaborations, and feedback. We move intentionally, making sure each new project or territory we enter is something our community is a part of and benefits from. Whether it’s branching into a new medium like fashion or hosting events in new cities, our guiding principle is to create spaces that feel as close-knit as a gathering among friends. Growth for us isn’t about reaching more people at any cost, it’s about bringing like-minded people together in ways that feel genuine, familiar, and deeply connected.

The intersection of music, fashion, and community seems central to your identity. How do these elements inform and influence each other in your creative process?

Music, fashion, and community are the heartbeat of TGIB. These elements are interconnected, our music events inspire the energy of our fashion choices, and our fashion reflects the diverse personalities in our community. Each part of what we do builds on the other. Music gives life to our events, setting a tone where people can express themselves freely, while fashion acts as a form of individual storytelling and self-empowerment. Our community is the reason these elements come together so seamlessly, it’s the shared space where everyone’s individuality is embraced and celebrated. When we create, we don’t think in separate mediums, we see it as building a collective experience where music, fashion, and the people themselves inform and elevate each other. Through this intersection, we’re able to foster an environment that feels like a second home where everyone is encouraged to explore, express, and experience a sense of belonging.
