BVLGARI INTRODUCES NEW LEATHER GOODS AND ACCESSORIES COLLECTION

Mary Katrantzou made a remarked debut as Creative Director of Leather Goods and Accessories for Bvlgari, with a first collection that takes inspiration from the heart and history of Rome. Titled « Calla », the collection develops a motif echoing the Roman Source Terme di Caracalla, built in the third century AD. The distinct fan-shaped polychrome mosaic adorning the floor of the famous baths form the shape of a clutch or is sported on sparkling handbags, reviving the long-lasting relationship of Bvlgari with its forever home.

The motif holds a compelling femininity and universality, invoking the past while building on the future. Three new models are introduced through this collection, highlighting the « Calla » motif’s multiple signification. Echoing the shape of the gingko leaf, the ‘Serpentine Duo’ handbag is the new addition to the Bvlgari closet. With its trapeze shape and forged metal handle featuring a double Serpenti head on each side, it is a beacon of the House’s legacy. Declined in black leather for the day and dazzling crystals for the night, it is bound to become an essential for any occasion. The ’Serpenti Sugarloaf’ is a padded-volume nappa shoulder bag, taking its name for the exquisite variant of Bulgaria’s cabochon cut.

Lastly, the delicious ‘Gingko clutch’ is a representation of the « Calla » through the pure, singular form of one of its motifs. Extracting the emblem from the interlocked pattern, its unique shape is expertly executed in fine kappa leather and hangs from a leather bracelet. These pieces are resonant with Bvlgari’s own distinct and unmistakable identity, and showcase Mary Katrantzou’s creative force and mark her strong debut at the Bvlgari family.
