CASIO IS SET TO RELEASE A RE-CREATION OF THE FIRST EVER G-SHOCK

Casio has just unveiled its new DW-5000R model. Well, sort of new, as it actually is a re-creation of the very first G-SHOCK model released all the way back in 1983. The original DW-5000C paved the way for a completely novel genre of tough wristwatches, bringing the accessory in spaces such as construction sites and intense athletic environments. Today, Casio is aiming to continue that tradition.
Returning to its roots, the brand produced the new model in great, and faithful, detail. The top surface displaying the words “PROTECTION” and “G-SHOCK” retain the original bezel’s flat design and colouring. The centre case remains stainless-steel, and the screw-lock case has the phrase “Shock resistant” engraved. The watch is even produced at Yamagata Casio — the factory where the original model was created. Talk about a “mother factory.” But the model has also been upgraded with modern features, like a high-brightness LED backlight. Additionally, the band is made from bio-based resin, which should help in reducing its lasting environmental impact.
Beginning early next year, the watch will be available online and at select retailers.
