LOUIS VUITTON FONDATION PRESENTS THEIR NEWEST POP ART EXHIBITON FOR THEIR 10TH ANNIVERSARY

The 2024-2025 art season will mark the 10th anniversary of the Fondation Louis Vuitton’s opening. An important date to celebrate through exclusive exhibition and events to be announced in September. Nonetheless, one surprise has already been revealed: the unravelling of the ‘Pop Forever, Tom Wesselmann &…’ exhibition from October 16th 2024 to February 24th 2025.

Dedicated to Pop Art, a major art movement of the 1960’s, the exhibition will focus on the works of Tom Wesselmann, a Pop Art legend. A selection of 150 paintings and other objects of art will be displayed for the guests to see, as well as 70 works by 35 artists from different generations and nationalities, sharing a common sensibility to ‘Pop’, highlighting the large influence and eclecticism of the movement.

From its Dadaist roots to its contemporary manifestations, passing by 1920’s Art Nouveau, the aim of the exhibition is to root in art history Tom Wesselmann’s work and to propose a new perspective on the Pop Art movement. With works ranging from Wesselmann’s first collages in 1959 to his large-scale embossed still lifes, his landscapes – which lie on the fringes of abstraction – and his2004 Sunset Nudes, the exhibition will  span across all four floors of the Fondation’s building. Other artists including Ai Weiwei, Frank Bowling, Marcel Duchamp, Jeff Koons, Yayoi Kusama, Roy Lichtenstein, Martial Raysse, and Andy Warhol will be featured in the exhibition, beautifully bridging past and present.

Pop Forever Tom Wesselmann &…’ at the Louis Vuitton Fondation in Paris from October 16th 2024 to February 24th 2025.
