RECAP OF THE WEEK BY NUMERO NETHERLANDS

words ELIANA CASA

‘Love is in the air' sang John Paul Young in 1978, and this week love was everywhere we looked. Store windows turned red, while brand ads popping up on Instagram feeds interrupted our daily sessions of stalking or hunting for the perfect Valentine's Day gift. Love was also showcased in the fashion campaigns of your favourite brands, which gave hope to even some of the most sceptical anti-romantics.

No matter how you have decided to spend your weekend, we have one more reason for you to keep scrolling: our beloved news recap.

1. BURBERRY BRINGS US TO “LONDON IN LOVE” FOR ITS SS25 CAMPAIGN

The British Fashion House unveiled seven short movies “It’s always Burberry weather” as its SS25 campaign.  For some, it might be considered a love letter to London, for others a nostalgic throwback featuring just some A-list cast stars, like Aimee Lou Wood, Chen Kun, Jodie Turner-Smith, Micheal Ward, Nicholas Hoult, Richard E. Grant, Son Sukku and models David Gandy, Liu Wen and Naomi Campbell. Not to mention Academy Award-winning actor Kate Winslet who exclaims (on a nostalgic note): “Oh no, please let’s not do another house swap”, bringing back all those ‘Holidays’ vibes that we thought we had left in the Christmas boxes.

MIU MIU PRESENTS “AUTOBIOGRAFIA DI UNA BORSETTA”

For the latest episode of Miu Miu Women’s Tale film anthology, director Joanna Hogg delivered the perfect visual narration, also called “Autobiografia di una Borsetta” or “Autobiography of a Handbag”. The protagonist of this story is a celebrity that you would never have thought of — the Miu Miu Wander bag, one of the brand’s iconic accessories.

The story centers around the iconic bag that, after being gifted to a wealthy young Italian girl, is stolen by her first love. Adding fuel to both crime and heartbreak, the bag embarks on a journey across Italy, passing through the hands of various individuals with questionable motives. In her quest to explore the stories behind the objects we carry, Joanna seamlessly blurs the lines between reality and fiction.

ADDISON RAE RELEASES NEW SINGLE ‘HIGH FASHION’

Addison Rae had the perfect idea for the ultimate Valentine’s gift to her fans: the release of her new song and music video, High Fashion. Ahead of her debut album, expected later this year, the artist made a comeback to our screens after the success of Aquamarine and Diet Pepsi, not to mention the screams of excitement sparked by the Von Dutch remix with the queen herself, Charli XCX. This time around, the "substance" seems to be fashion, as Addison struts through a walk-in closet, trying on dresses you'll definitely want to wear for your hot girl summer. Could it be the turn of Addison's brat summer?

MICHEAL RIDER TO DEBUT HIS FIRST CELINE SHOW JULY 6

Before we get lost in all this love talk, let’s take a moment to remind ourselves about Michael Rider’s upcoming debut collection at CELINE. The designer, who stepped into the role of Creative Director earlier this year, will unveil his first collection on July 6, right between Paris Men's Fashion Week (June 24–29) and Paris Couture Week (July 7–11). While it’s still unclear whether the show will feature womenswear, menswear, or both, this marks a bold return to the live runway for the brand. Will Rider continue Hedi Slimane’s cinematic approach? And, of course, the lingering question—what’s next for Hedi?
