Moschino’s SS25 collection explores the importance of clothing in the formation of cultures and subcultures. Looks strut down the runway divided into distinct groups, highlighting the essentiality of the sense of belonging for human beings. Nevertheless, styles shift throughout the whole presentation, celebrating the individuality within the community. Humor and second-degree lead the way throughout the whole collection in a quintessential Moschino way, with huge slogans sported on oversized dresses and smiley faces adorning necklaces.
Moschino’s forever maximalist aesthetic is shining through this collection, with oversized pieces taking the center stage in every “categories”. Tailoring is deconstructed to infuse a new life to the garments, while upholstery becomes the epitome of luxury. A sequence of outfits draped from sheets turn into literal canvasses for the creator to exercise his mind on. The ambiance is definitely playful, whether it being with looks, ideas or perceptions. Chalk drawings originally created by Franco Moschino find their way on black cotton tailoring, expressing the freedom of youth.
Everyday objects and household items becomes it-accessories of the season in a quintessentially Moschino way. Archival pieces by designer and artist Judy Blame appear on the runway, connecting to the collection’s ideology of repurposing precious items and celebrating fashion legends. Polka dots run the show, declined on garments or directly painted on the model’s bodies.
