THE SOCIAL HUB AMSTERDAM CITY AND ISBURNING JOINED FORCES FOR AN UNFORGETTABLE PRIDE EVENT
The Social Hub Amsterdam City and queer collective IsBurning teamed up during the Amsterdam Pride Week for a block party high in colours. More than a celebration of LGBTQIA+ identity, this evening was a unique gathering of creatives coming to celebrate queer history. The relationship between Social Hub and IsBurning is not anew, and this event was definitely a full circle moment for the collective and its creator Carlos Valdes, a key figure in the local electronic scene.
What used to be the decor for the first IsBurning parties has now been turned into The Social Hub Amsterdam City, making this event feel a return home, after so many changes, evolution and growth. Bringing house music to queer parties has been a goal for Carlos Valdes since the creation of IsBurning, and this event beautifully honoured years of hardwork. Always with an open heart and mind, IsBurning revolutionized the party scene in Amsterdam, setting its own rules and inspiring others to do so. That night saw two world reuniting in harmony. The Social Hub’s philosophy of acceptance and concern for creating spaces for everyone to be themselves aligned with IsBurning’s pioneer position in the matter, resulting in a night full of joy, smiles and love.
A line-up filled with solar performers animated the evening, from Eddington Again to Daan Groeneveld passing by a groovy B2B with Sarmabot and Kiawash, ensuring a rising heat all evening long. In addition, an interactive activity allowed attendees to go home with a personalized souvenir, thanks to a screen-printing session with designs created by Anja Lekavski, responsible for IsBurning visual identity for years. Limited edition cap were available for anyone to grab, sporting the mantra leading every The Social Hub and IsBurning actions: « come as you are ». This night was nothing short of unforgettable, the warmth of everyone present was palpable, an indispensable component for making life-lasting memories.
