Frenzy Recordings brings us an electrifying new release as they enter their next chapter as a renowned Amsterdam-based collective. For their 8th instalment, Frenzy presents us with a new and highly anticipated collaboration with the techno luminary, Obscure Shape; adding a modern twist to old-school techno sounds.
This collaboration allows Frenzy to both reinterpret and captivate us within Obscure's signature sounds with the delivery of ‘Reborn Identity’. A fusion of nostalgic energy and cutting-edge innovation reimagines the techno beats we have come to know from Obscure Shape and provides us with a new musical insight and experience we have never seen before. Rooted in the raw intensity of 2000’s techno, the Stuttgart-based artist has found individuality with a distinct style that bridges both past and present.
This 8-track EP is set to showcase the evolution of Obscure Shape, featuring remixes from the techno trailblazer, DJ Rush, and the upcoming talent, Volpe, as well as two exclusive bonus tracks. The A-side opens with the title track, ‘Reborn Identity’, which paves the way for a high-octane journey of both personal upheaval and pulsating landscapes. Following this track is ‘All We Imagine as Light’, breaking down a percussive storyline that gives passage for later tracks. DJ Rush elevates ‘Reborn Identity’ with a dynamic remix, amplifying the track’s organic intensity in a mechanical way. On the B-side, ‘Broken Circle’ opens us up and plunges us into hypnotic depths, meanwhile ‘Instinct’ takes a new angle by blending orchestral elegance with an immeasurable dub atmosphere; creating a unique juxtaposition of sound. Volpe then takes us to the next level by reshaping ‘Instinct’ into an experience that is manufactured by a dynamic, groove-driven dub. The EP rounds off with two digital exclusives - ‘Stranger Eyes’ and ‘Your Deadline Is Over’ - which act to expand the aural landscapes reinforced by Obscure Shape’s distinct sound and style.
