On a scorching day in Novi Sad, after a night filled with music and networking, I had the immense pleasure of attending a panel discussion on FYI, will.i.am's latest creation. This powerful AI tool not only communicates with a British accent but can also provide incredibly detailed answers to virtually any question, from the simplest inquiries to the most complex. The more specific the question, the more impressive its capabilities, unlocking a wealth of possibilities and features that feel almost otherworldly.

Sitting before will.i.am, a true innovator and master of the avant-garde, I was captivated by his journey into AI. His involvement dates back to 2009, during the recording of "THE E.N.D." with the Black Eyed Peas—a time when the first glimpses of AI were emerging. Since then, AI has evolved into a powerful tool, predicting future trends and influencing the ever-changing flow of modern life, a force we now can hardly imagine living without.

One of will.i.am's most exciting projects, Radio FYI, stands out as a digital music platform that offers a unique, artist-centric experience. Unlike traditional radio or streaming services, Radio FYI empowers artists by giving them more control over how their music is distributed and promoted. Established and emerging artists alike can curate their own content, share behind-the-scenes stories, and engage with listeners on a personal level, deepening the connection between creators and fans.

At the event, time was limited, and I had the opportunity to ask just one question—an inquiry that had been on my mind regarding will.i.am's relationship with AI in his creative process. Given his reputation as an innovator and tech enthusiast, I wanted to know if and how he integrates AI into his music production. His response was both surprising and insightful: contrary to what one might expect from a pioneer of digital sound, will.i.am mentioned that he doesn't currently use AI to create music directly. However, he emphasized that AI plays a significant role in other areas of his work, highlighting its utility in streamlining non-creative tasks and enhancing efficiency across various projects.
