CALA LLONGA’S NEWEST TREASURES: MONDRIAN AND HYDE IBIZA

words by MAGDALENA ROE & THORE DAMWERTH

This season, Cala Llonga shines with the debut of two new gems gracing the region for their first full Ibiza season. This hotspot, tucked away on the east coast of Ibiza, is known for its crystal-clear waters and lush, green, pine-clad hills. This idyllic bay offers a peaceful retreat while being just a stone's throw from the vibrant Ibiza Town and Santa Eulària.

Mondrian and Hyde Ibiza, situated in the midst of Cala Llonga, provide breathtaking views over the bay, allowing their guests to unwind in a tranquil setting yet remain close to the island's bustling nightlife and attractions. For adventures beyond the White Isle, a public ferry dock on the adjacent beach provides access to the serene sister island Formentera, known for its pristine beaches and sparkling blue waters.

HYDE

Hyde Ibiza, a bohemian-chic gem perched on a cliff overlooking Cala Llonga bay, is an oasis of well-being, stunning seaside views, and relaxed luxury. Rooted in California and evoking the nonchalant atmosphere of 2000s LA cool and beach club exclusivity, this hotel marks the Hyde brand's first European location. True to its close connection with music and festival freedom, Hyde Ibiza is conveniently situated near the island’s renowned clubs. For a break from the lively nightlife, the hotel is next to Cala Llonga’s beautiful beach.

The hotel itself offers ample opportunities for relaxation as well. Hyde and Mondrian Ibiza share three outdoor pools, each with its unique vibe, ranging from relaxing daybeds to atmospheric DJ performances. The inviting interior of Hyde Ibiza features a signature Endless Sofa, handcrafted Balearic-inspired geometric motifs, and striking retro furniture. Spacious rooms are decorated in neutral tones and feature natural materials, with warm wood headboards and soft white cotton sheets, complemented by light curtains that dance in the breeze from private terraces, offering views of either the lush mountains or the shimmering sea.

Culinary delights at Hyde Ibiza are led by Cuyo, a Mexican restaurant serving humble, locally and sustainably sourced dishes straight from the ocean, paired with mezcal or tequila-based cocktails, seasonal fruit, and natural and biodynamic wines to be enjoyed against the stunning backdrop of Cala Llonga bay. For a more casual experience, the bohemian bar Bungalow offers poolside lounging with sun lounger service, featuring a menu of sushi, sashimi, and light bites, along with refreshing Sangria.

MONDRIAN

Right next door sits Mondrian Ibiza, a luxurious haven that unites modern chic and inventive design with the natural beauty of its bay setting. Rooted in art, design, and culture, Mondrian is a series of forward-thinking hotels showcasing luxurious interiors, immersive art installations, and inventive culinary experiences. The hallmarks of this five-star hotel are dream-like spaces that reflect the island it inhabits. Mondrian Ibiza is the choice for people seeking a contemporary and cosmopolitan hangout surrounded by breathtaking nature.

Embracing an ethos of refined simplicity, the rooms at Mondrian provide a serene interpretation of the surrounding landscape. Local raw materials like wood, leather, linen, stone, and cement are reimagined in new forms to create the finishes and furniture. Signature pieces, such as headboards with natural leather webbing, reflect traditional Balearic furnishings, while wooden slat cabinets draw inspiration from the dry docks. Each room is equipped with a king-size bed, a spacious en-suite bathroom, and statement interiors that evoke a sense of immediate calm and comfort. Private terraces round out the relaxing atmosphere, providing stunning, unobstructed views of the coastline.

For an all-day bar hangout, Sun & Moon terrace offers light bites and drinks served against a panoramic backdrop. It is the perfect spot for gathering over a late breakfast or brunch, soaking in the serene Mediterranean ambiance, while a few floors below, the modern Japanese restaurant Niko pleases with a blend of traditional Japanese and Mediterranean culture, featuring a high-end sushi bar. Niko provides a sensory journey where premium ingredients and exceptional presentation combine in a sophisticated ambiance.

Overall, both Hyde and Mondrian Ibiza are the perfect destinations to unwind, embrace your bohemian spirit, and enjoy a blend of Ibiza’s vibrant club scene, tranquil relaxation, and Balearic adventures year-round in the heart of Cala Llonga.
