DIESEL UNVEILS THE LATEST EPISODE OF THEIR DOCU-SERIES ‘BEHIND THE DENIM’
Diesel presents its latest episode, titled ‘Sow the Seed,’ of their mini-document series ‘Behind the Denim,’ in which they showcase the various steps in their denim production. This time, hosts Lea Ogunlami and Andrea Rosso meet up with Michael and Rafa, two farmers who work on a regenerative farm near Seville in Spain to explore the agricultural elements of fashion.
As they dive into the vast country fields, it is revealed that most of the raw materials used to create the Diesel garments come from plants, such as cotton. Michael and Rafa further explain the fundamentals of regenerative agriculture, which concentrates on building healthy soil and supporting a balanced ecosystem with clean, unpolluted water with abundant wildlife. The farm’s certified regenerative cotton is grown with significantly fewer pesticides, herbicides and synthetic fertilizer, ensuring the sustainable strategy that Diesel came up with in 2020.
More than 50 percent of Diesel denim garments are now crafted using organic, recycled or regenerative cotton, including the Diesel Library collection of classic styles launched in 2022. Next year Andrea and Leah could even be wearing denim made from the regenerative cotton they sowed themselves.
Stay tuned for the conclusion of the docu-series, as the fifth episode will launch in December and Lea unearths what circularity really means, as she visits a warehouse filled with denim scraps.
