With winter fast approaching, I decided a trip to Madrid would be the perfect antidote to my summer nostalgia. As Editor-in-Chief, I’m always on the move—packing and unpacking has practically become a sport. This time, Zalando was the perfect party supporting my diverse lifestyle during a trip abroad which includes activities such as working out, sightseeing, dining and leisure. Armed with Zalando’s must-have fall pieces, I hopped on the first flight to Madrid and checked into the EDITION Hotel—a seamless blend of luxury and modernity right in the heart of the city. Join me on a three-day adventure through the Spanish capital, discovering hidden gems and trendy hotspots, all styled by Zalando.
DAY 1
First things first—the outfit. For my airport look, I aimed to strike the perfect balance between comfort and style. I paired the sleek ash grey bomber jacket from HAN KJØBENHAVN with statement AVES black washed jeans from FAVELA.To tie it all together, I slipped on my light brown NIKE ZOOM VOMER 5 sneakers, the ultimate choice for staying comfy while looking chic.
Right after checking in at EDITION, the first stop obviously needed to be San Ginés, the most famous chocolatería of the city. Established in 1894, the historical café serves as the perfect backdrop to enjoy the charming local atmosphere and the traditional Spanish churros paired with hot chocolate. You will thank me later…
The day concluded with an unforgettable dinner at MARKET—one of EDITION’s standout culinary experiences. Entering through a striking baroque portal designed by local architect Pedro de Rivera, I was greeted by a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation that sets the tone for the evening.
The highlight? A meticulously crafted menu celebrating Spanish cuisine, with an emphasis on fresh, locally sourced ingredients from nearby markets. MARKET feels like an explosion of flavors, colors, and textures—and I was lucky enough to savour every moment. This outfit accompanied me from day to night, giving me the flexibility to transition from casual to more elegant settings.
DAY 2
Day 2 kicked off strong with a revitalising gym session in style, giving me the energy boost needed for the day ahead. One of the things I love most about Zalando is their wide selection, which lets me curate outfits that perfectly match my mood and the vibe of the day. I can always find pieces that resonate with my energy.
For my morning workout, I opted for the NIKE Pacer Longsleeve from my Zalando’s wishlist, a piece that combines style and functionality perfectly, allowing me to move freely while looking great.
With my energy levels high, it was time to dive into Madrid’s hidden gems and iconic spots. But first, outfit check: the ZALANDO’s ROBERTO CAVALLI bandana hoodie, with its artistic iconic print, perfectly matched the vibes for an afternoon at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Spain’s most celebrated modern art museum. On a journey through 20th-century Spanish art—I got to relive the Spanish Civil War with Picasso's iconic Guernica, escaping to surreal worlds through Salvador Dalí's visions, and discovering the powerful works of groundbreaking women artists from the 1960s and 70s.
Back at the hotel, I revitalised myself at the stunning EDITION lobby bar, renowned for its sophisticated design and unique ambiance. I swiftly changed into the All Saints Redact Crew T-shirt and slipped on my Puma SPEEDCAT OG SPARCO sneakers, perfect for everything from a quick game of pool to a relaxing afternoon by the outdoor swimming pool soaking up the last rays of summer.
Thanks to Zalando's versatile collection, I effortlessly navigated my day without the stress of constantly changing outfits, so I felt perfectly at ease heading straight to dinner at Sal Mestiza without the need for a wardrobe change.
Founded by Numéro Netherlands cover star Alejandro Speitzer, the restaurant transported me to Mexico, honouring the founder’s roots. In an intimate yet casual setting, a variety of authentic and reinvented dishes are meant to be shared. Could it get any better? Yes, the delightful cocktails added an extra layer of excitement to the evening, which concluded at EDITION’s nightclub, MISTICA, the latest addition to the hotel.
I couldn’t resist stopping at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium for Real Madrid’s ninth match of the season against Villarreal. The energy in the air was absolutely incredible…The outfit was so cozy that I didn’t want to take it off, especially before heading back to cloudy Amsterdam.
