ELEVATING THE ORDINARY AT THE MARIE ADAM-LEENAERDT SS25 SHOW

Marie Adam-Leenaerdt was a finalist for the 2024 LVMH prize, and this season, she is back to showcase her Spring/Summer’25 collection. Inspired by the plainness of the T-shirt, Marie Adam-Leenaerdt and her eponymous brand transformed the essence of the ordinary into a fun playground where experimentation meets brand sophistication. Holding the runway in the Terminus Nord brasserie, guests were eagerly sitting along the tables as the models walked out into the hallway.

The T-shirt is often seen as something boring, a blank canvas that fills the street with uniformity and a lack of expression. A sea of sameness with little room for contour and dimension. But in this most humble wardrobe staple, there is room for creativity that sometimes you just need a little spark of inspiration for — and Marie Adam-Leenaerdt seems to have that spark.

Embracing the T-shirt in all its ordinariness, Adam-Leenaerdt is set to elevate the item to new heights by infusing it with other garments, textures, and shapes. Imbuing it with both functionality and comfort, the collection sees the T-shirt disproportioned, mixed with knitwear, or styled with lace. Other times, pops of colour and accessories, like an oversized  blush-pink bag, do the heavy lifting to raise looks to new heights.

One of the more novel ideas that Adam-Leenaerdt presented here, was the interchangeable covers of items such as the blazer. This sustainable practice allows for a greater freedom of expression while maintaining stylishness and sophistication.

In the end, the collection was a stellar display of craft and seeing the beauty in what is hidden, perhaps, in plain sight, like the timeless T-shirt. Marie Adam-Leenaerdt is one of the current leading contemporaries and we can’t wait to see what the brand does in the future.
