GCDS PRESENTS THEIR SS25 COLLECTION ‘FLOWERS OF THE CONCRETE’
For their Spring/Summer 2025 collection, GCDS wanted to honor the bold, fearless women that make the cultural world go round. These contemporary Amazons who create their own rhythm, and whose wardrobe reflect a never-ending source of imagination for Creative Director Giuliano Calza. The name of the collection channels that unstoppable feminine energy who, like a flower growing in concrete, has to power to transform and inspire. On a custom music by Charli XCX, the garments strutting down the runway belong to a woman who stays a step ahead of the haters, and blow us a kiss in passing.
The runway presentation, definitely anchored in club wear and rave outfits, owes a lot of its destroyed charm to the meticulous styling of Carine Roitfeld, who did not hesitate to sacrifice tees and ties to bring to life new pieces. Tops and bodysuits forming the letter V for Victory embody sartorial sensuality, paired with bubble skirts and sophisticated pantsuits. To say that Brat Summer might have play a role in this celebration of nightlife can be close to the truth, noticing the bright neon green and yellow, and the obvious after-party vibe. Mesh was definitely a master in the GCDS SS25 collection, for its eroticism that reveals the body and enhance its movement.
If the early morning gets chilly, put on your maximalist pink fur coat or oversized windbreaker to keep warm, or get in your structural blazer and pants to rush to the office. Despite the atmosphere that wants itself raw and offset, the precise craftsmanship of the garments elevate the looks to incredible masterpieces with an irresistible duality. Kitten heels bring in playfulness and refinement to the looks, while some models walking barefoot embody with humor the ending of long night out. And how to forget the Comma bag, perfect addition in its Mega or Mini size, adding edge and polish to the whole. A collection that will get down in history as a mirror of its time, representing the wild spirit of its generation.
