GET READY WITH CHRIS APPLETON FOR TOMMY HILFIGER’S SPRING 2025 SHOW
Chris Appleton is a multi-hyphenate artist, personality, and entrepreneur, best known for being the top celebrity hairstylist. No stranger to attending Fashion and Couture Weeks, we chatted with Chris at New York Fashion Week where he attended Tommy Hilfiger’s Spring 2025 show aboard the MV John F. Kennedy ferry.
What do you love most about New York Fashion Week?
There is always such a versatile vibe at NYFW - the energy in the city is electric.
What are your NYFW essentials? Can be anything from wardrobe essentials to electronics to hero beauty products to favourite snack.
I definitely always have a Celsius with me - need to keep up the energy! And I love The Beauty Sandwich Snatching Sauce (serum), which does exactly what it says it will, and I combine it with a La Mer face mask to give the mug a good glow.
Run us through what a day during NYFW looks like for you when attending a runway show. What is your getting ready process?
I flew in from Sweden and arrived just a couple hours before the show. Timing was very tight so I took a helicopter into the city to make sure I could get to all of my appointments on time. l had a facial at Joanna Czech to debloat my face from a week full of travel, and then I had a final fitting with the Tommy Hilfiger team and went straight to my hotel to get ready for the show.
What kind of music do you listen to while getting ready?
I always just like a good vibe - something upbeat and light. Right now I’m loving Charli XCX's album.
Describe your look for attending the Tommy Hilfiger Show during NYFW.
This look is a little bit different for me. It’s a very nautical inspired outfit with blue and white stripes and a full sailor theme. My T-shirt is pretty tight and it’s definitely giving sailor vibes! I love Tommy’s theme. It’s both fun and nostalgic of a true American timeless style.
Was there something about this outfit that drew you to it/how did you decide on which outfit to wear?
At the fitting, I had three different options and I decided to go with this one, alongside the Tommy team, as it just fell on point and I wanted to do something different to what I normally do. It is still a classic but with the nautical twist, it feels fresh.
Do you have a favourite Tommy Hilfiger look you’ve worn to date? If so, which was it and why?
One of my favourite Tommy looks I wore was when they dressed me for the British Fashion Awards. I loved that it had this schoolboy vibe with the tie, it was again a different look for me, but it really felt on point and I love the whole look.
What do you love most about the brand (Tommy Hilfiger)?
I love that there is something for everyone. It’s an American classic and every year they refresh the narrative and create a new classic. It’s also a very inclusive brand and it’s an honour to be part of the Tommy family.
What did you think of the Tommy Hilfiger show? What were some of the highlights for you?
I was obsessed with the nautical theme and the fact that it was on a ferry. They really told a story, and you got lost in it. It felt fresh and cool at the same time.
How do you unwind after a day at Fashion Week?
I would usually love a massage, but it’s on to the next event. Jet lag is setting in after traveling in from Europe, so I’ll be happy with a full night's sleep.
How would you describe your own style?
I don’t know, I’ll let you decide! In my head it’s American Classic jock…. but who knows it changes everyday.
