LANDO NORRIS WINS THE TROPHY OF THE FORMULA 1 LOUIS VUITTON AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX
The McLaren driver, Lando Norris, was awarded with the trophy for the winning driver of the FORMULA 1 LOUIS VUITTON AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX 2025, presented in its Louis Vuitton Trophy Trunk. This rounds off the first race of the season within the Official Partnership between Louis Vuitton and Formula 1, and the second Trophy Trunk of the season to be presented, following the FIA Formula One World Championship Trophy Trunk.
The Louis Vuitton Trophy Trunk is specifically designed to protect and showcase the trophy of the FORMULA 1®LOUIS VUITTON AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX 2025. Louis Vuitton, as a Title Partner of this first Grand Prix of the 2025 season, presented a new track signage including a Louis Vuitton signature for the Official Partnership between Formula 1 and the House. The new design was displayed on barriers and various sections of the Melbourne circuit throughout the event, recalling the speed and intensity of Formula 1.
The FORMULA 1 LOUIS VUITTON AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX 2025 trophy trunk was crafted at the House's historic atelier in Asnières, in France. The two folding front panels of the trunk were hand painted with a V – both for “Victory” and “Vuitton” – in emblematic green and yellow, recalling the colours of Australia. The interior is covered by black leather to protect the trophy. The exterior is finished with leather trim and the same brass corner protectors, lock and clasps that have been used on Louis Vuitton trunks since the 1860s.
The Asnières workshop is also where the first automotive trunks were designed under Georges Vuitton, the son of Louis Vuitton, in 1897. Over the following 125 years, Louis Vuitton has remained closely associated with automotive culture. When George foresaw the growing popularity of cars and travel, he created a durable canvas material called “Vuittonite” to substitute for leather, which ensured the trunks could withstand the elements. This invention would evolve into today’s iconic Louis Vuitton canvas.
With this latest creation, Louis Vuitton perpetuates a tradition dear to the House, creating trunks to transport, protect and showcase the trophies of the world’s most anticipated and highly prized sporting competitions. From the workshop to the racetrack, overlapping themes of teamwork, precision, and inventiveness bond the two worlds of fashion and sport, and the broader ambition of greatness shared by Louis Vuitton and Formula 1.
The surging global popularity of Formula 1 means that more and more people will witness the sport’s iconic and emotional moments, with Louis Vuitton ensuring that every triumph lives on and perpetuates the tradition that marks new milestones, each time confirming that “Victory travels in Vuitton.”
