MIAMI BEACH ART BASEL: FASHION RECAP
words by JOYCE ONUORAH
Miami Beach Art Basel, for many, marks the final major event of the year, drawing art, fashion, and music lovers out for one more unforgettable week. Over the years, the annual art fair has evolved into more than just a platform for contemporary artists and high-profile art dealers—it’s become a prime opportunity for fashion brands to collaborate with artists, host activations, and curate parties to fête collection debuts, new launches, or simply reconnect with consumers and friends of the brand.
This year the art fair attracted an audience of over 75,000, including key art patrons and collectors, further solidifying its role in the art scene. The weather served as a perfect backdrop for a successful Art Basel—sunny skies and ideal temperatures set the stage as brands and publications celebrated anniversaries and collaborative moments. Given the year we’ve had, there was a joint sense that everyone was eager to gather and enjoy something memorable with fellow colleagues and aficionados. Below, Numéro takes a dive into some of the biggest, most noteworthy moments of the week.
Cartier Trinity 100
Cartier has been undertaking a year-long centennial celebration. Beginning in New York City at the top of the year and traveling through cities like London, Paris, Tokyo to commemorate the 100th year of its Trinity collection, something just makes sense about concluding the celebrations in Miami Design District during Art Basel. Tuesday evening, the brand invited a selection of private guests to enjoy an immersive pop up created in commemoration of the milestone (it was comprised of five unique spaces all dedicated to telling the rich history and legacy of the brand), before opening the limited time exhibit to the public. Janelle Monae set the tunes for the evening, and those in attendance were invited to enjoy cocktails and even try on the limited North America collection of the jewels for themselves.
Gucci Holiday Party
The Gucci Holiday Celebration was a chic and festive affair. Held at the Sweet Bird North Plaza in Miami’s design district, the enchanted snow globe inspired celebration captured the house’s festive flair. The brand brought together tastemakers, artists, power players in fashion, art, and entertainment such as Alessandra Ambrosio, Brittany Byrd, Jeffrey Deitch, Venus Williams, Yara Shahidi, to name a few. The lively crowd enjoyed celebrating with the brand as they danced the night away.
Maison Margiela x Kozo Cocktail
The Margiela X Kozo event was one wherein an unexpected art form — tattooing — came together with fashion design in a unique and beautifully intriguing way. The celebrated Brooklyn based tattoo artist showcased his exclusive capsule with friends of the brand such as Paloma Elesser, Aleali May, Saint Jhn, and Brenda Weisher to name a few. The affair felt like a mix of gallery and studio at the brand’s design district store, an incredibly fitting collaboration during Art Basel.
The Webster X The Attico Intimate Dinner
The Webster x The Attico, for their Basel affair, packed out Sopra, the private second-floor suite at Forte Dei Miami, with a candle lit dinner. The event summoned a number of influential attendees, including the likes of Kitty Cash, Brenda Weischer, and Kristian Noel Crawley. The evening began with cocktails and lively conversations before segueing into a five-course, Italian-inspired dinner. The evening felt very much akin to the collection up for celebration — a perfect fusion of The Attico’s modern, yet sophisticated roots alongside the vibrant backdrop of The Webster Miami.
Fendi Design District Boutique Opening
Fendi’s newly renovated boutique in Miami’s Design District was a true celebration of luxury and design. The store’s detailed exterior resembled Fendi’s timeless craftsmanship with grand arches inspired by Roman architecture combined beautifully with Miami’s vibrant energy. Guests sipped on festive drinks, enjoyed DJ Isabella Massanet tunes for the evening, and mingled about the new space. There were a number of guests in attendance to celebrate with the brand, such as Storm Reid, Victor Cruz, and even including Silvia Venturini Fendi.
Miu Miu X GiGi Select
Miu Miu's boutique event with Gigi Hadid was truly one to remember. The house was packed floor to ceiling with celebs, brand aficionados, and supermodel admirers alike. The brand hosted an exclusive shopping experience, unveiling a curated selection of Gigi’s personal edits from the brand. Attendees had the opportunity to browse pieces handpicked by Gigi herself, all while enjoying the upbeat and lively atmosphere of the store curated by DJ Chloé Caillat along with other notable stars in the room such as Camila Cabello, Dwyane Wade, Gabrielle Union, Paloma Elsesser, Patrick Ta, and Samira Ahmed.
Velocity Black & GQ at DAR MIAMI
The GQ x Velocity Black invite only party hosted by Will Welch and soundtracked by DJ Pee Wee (Anderson Paak), was the perfect party to wrap out the week. The Souk of Marrakech inspired installation, Dar Miami 1446, created by internationally acclaimed artist Hassan Hajjaj made for an electric and vibrant scene for the crowd to dance and enjoy the fusion of live music and high-energy beats. The crowd danced and sang along to hit after hit. Kitty Cash and Paak, with help from Mario and brilliant trumpeter Maurice Brown, kept the crowd moving all night. Guests of the evening who included Big Sean, Joey Bada$$, Kaytranada, Hannah Bronfman, Kollin Carter represented the intersection of culture, fashion, and music that defines Miami Art Basel.
Dorsia’s Sol a Sol Party
Dorsia’s inaugural Sol a Sol party was the ultimate closing celebration for the city’s most vibrant week of art and entertainment. Held at The Moore in Miami’s Design District, this exclusive evening featured a star-studded guest list, including celebrities and influencers alike — think Bethenny Frankel, RÜFÜS DU SOL, Paloma Elsesser, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Victor Cruz. The vibes were created floor by floor, with DJ performances from Guy Gerber, Kaz James, and Chloé Caillet creating a festival-like atmosphere. Guests explored unique spaces, including a champagne room and hidden clubs, while surprise performances added to the night’s excitement.
MBG’s When We Fly
MBG’s inaugural Art Basel event was a standout for its ambitious vision: bringing together power players from diverse industries—entertainment, fashion, sports, and finance. The evening was a dynamic mix of thought leaders, entrepreneurs, and creatives, all gathered in one space to network and celebrate the convergence of art and influence. With attendees including French Montana, Joey Badass, Ice spice, Gunna, Uncle Waffles, Jackie Ania, and Saint John just to name a few, the inaugural event felt like one that will only continue to grow year after year.
