PRADA SS25 WOMENSWEAR IS ECLECTIC, FUTURISTIC, AND UNIQUELY PERSONAL
words by SONNY NGO
As always, iconic Italian fashion house Prada was present at Milan Fashion Week, and its Spring/Summer 2025 Womenswear collection was beautifully revealed inside the Deposito at Fondazione. Creatively directed by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, the collection ranges from simply eclectic to bright superheroine — and its overarching theme of individuality and self-agency, reminds us of the power of creativity and its ability to transform.
Living in an era with endless information driven by algorithms and being drenched under a constant stream of content, our consumption is infinite and calculated. Every part of reality seems to be curated, but humanity is defined by its unpredictability and liveness. Here, the Prada runway engages with this duality and specifically highlights the creative undertakings of humanity by making each look unique and different.
The show pushes the boundaries of unexpected contradictions and uses elements of the vast Prada archive to do so. But besides this archive, nothing seems to glue the looks together — which is exactly the point. From metallic dresses with blazing colours to pastel-pink trousers and alien-esque headgear; each look is as discombobulating as it is uniquely creative.
With the current zeitgeist seemingly split amongst various niches led by data-driven algorithms, Prada speaks to them all. Not with uniformity, but with variety. Though archival pieces appear throughout the show, the collection spotlights futurism. The eccentric visors, vibrant colours, and mismatched textures, radiate an outlandish energy that is both bizarre, fun, and more importantly, personal.
