THE MACALLAN INTRODUCES NEW ‘TIME: SPACE’ COLLECTION WITH NEW WHISKEYS
To commemorate its 200 year anniversary, The Macallan is releasing two unique new whiskies that revolve around the theme of time and space. As whisky is known for its long ageing process, the concept lines up perfectly with both the brand’s two century mark and the exquisite taste of the drink.
The first in the collection is titled ‘TIME: SPACE’ - a dual chamber vessel that includes the oldest whisky released by the brand at a staggering 84 years and a second single malt that marks the brand’s first new distillery. The other release, ‘TIME: SPACE Mastery,’ is a single malt with complex layers that embrace the long history of The Macallan. Both pieces are shaped by an ongoing dedication to artisanal craftsmanship and a deep connection to nature, which is further reflected in the campaign images that carry dark red hues complemented by the earthy tones of surrounding landscapes.
The vessel has two chambers to hold each of the whiskies. Bottled at 43.6% ABV, an extraordinary 84 years of maturation has produced a rich natural colour, exceptional depth and richness and full, long lasting flavours unique to this single malt Scotch whisky. As a counterpart, the single malt in the central chamber is a 2018 vintage, marking a milestone as the first ever whisky from The Macallan’s new distillery - a nod to the future of the brand and its commitment to excellence in its whiskies.
The vessel is displayed in an oak sculpture which has been designed to further accentuate the natural colour of the whisky, and alternate layers of American oak and European oak have been selected to craft the display sculpture as a homage to the brand’s commitment to sherry seasoned oak casks.
As of now, TIME: SPACE is only available through invitation from The Macallan. TIME: SPACE Mastery on the other hand, will be available to purchase via the Macallan Society Ballot in Europe, though availability is subject to location.
