ZOE SALDAÑA PRESENTS CARTIER’S NEW HIGH JEWELLERY CREATION AT GOLDEN GLOBES 2025

Friend of the Maison Zoe Saldaña sparkled on the red carpet of the Golden Globes last night as she debuted a new Cartier High Jewellery set: the Melis necklace and earrings.

The unique piece was chosen personally by Saldaña and her stylist Petra Flannery, in a private encounter with Alexa Abitbol, the Maison’s High Jewellery Workshop Director, at Cartier’s iconic 13 Paix boutique.

I am honoured to be the first person to wear the Melis set and showcase its beauty on this special occasion. Its golden fluidity felt apropos for the Golden Event and makes it a joy to wear.

The Melis necklace was crafted over 738 hours of highly specialised work by the Maison’s artisans, using complex and rare savoir-faire techniques. The name means honey and the bee hangs from the necklace as a totem, its body made from a Fancy Intense yellow diamond of 2.64 carats, in a briolette-cut, a signature of the Maison. The structure around this precious, poetic insect is made up entirely of a series of motifs representing a stylised honeycomb, crafted from yellow diamond beads, briolette-cut and brilliant-cut diamonds. The warm glow of the indulgent colour palette – accentuated by the yellow gold structure – also evokes the rich sweetness of honey.

An unusual feature in the world of High Jewellery, the unfaceted diamond beads are surrounded by a mirror polish technique that reflects the light with a delicate scintillation, following the eye as it moves along the precisely arranged gradation of colour. Meanwhile the briolette-cut diamonds are mounted on micro-wires in a delicate display of Cartier’s savoir-faire.
