MAMA TOLD YA AT LOFI, A NIGHT TO REMEMBER

words by MARIE-PAULINE CESARI

Wow, I have never seen Lofi this packed! Even though the party was indoors because of the cold, the outdoor area was also completely full. The energy was insane from the start, and you could tell it was going to be a wild night.

The lineup was amazing. DJ Leoni started things off and got everyone moving with a great selection of tracks. A Strange Wedding followed with a live set that had deep, almost trippy vibes. Then JEANS and Vel went back-to-back and absolutely lit up the dance floor. Their set was pure fire and built the perfect energy for Anetha, who took things to another level with her electrifying sound and energy. Mac Declos closed the night with an unstoppable and deep set that kept everyone hypnotized till the end.

Bringing Mama Told Ya to Amsterdam for the first time was a big deal, and it couldn’t have gone better. Amsterdam loves club culture, and the energy of the label fit right in. To find out more about what this night meant, we caught up with Anetha for a quick chat.

Mama Told Ya is making its debut in Amsterdam with a full lineup at Lofi. What does it mean for you to bring the label’s energy to this city, and what makes this night so special?

It’s a big moment for us, a real achievement. Amsterdam and the Netherlands are at the heart of club culture in Europe. The clubs are top level, there are countless techno festivals, and the crowd eally knows their music. Lofi is still a young club but already has a special place in the scene, so we’re really proud to bring Mama Told Ya here. It’s exciting to share our energy with a new crowd.

What do you hope the Lofi crowd will feel when listening to your sets tonight?

I want them to relax and let go, to get lost in the music! It’s going to be a deep, intense night, a big tunnel, a real journey. But also, I want them to feel the connection we have. Mama Told Ya isn’t just a label, it’s like a family of artists and friends who grow together. If the crowd can feel that, then we’ve done our job. Alone, we go faster. Together, we go further.

Anetha, you released your Rave Edit of Nuit Blanche on February 21st. What inspired you to create this version?

This track brings back memories from when I was a teenager. My parents used to listen to it, and I even saw Vive la Fête perform live in Bordeaux when I was studying architecture. I’ve always loved their mix of rock, new wave, and electronic music. For my Rave Edit, I wanted to make it more trance and melancholic with a stronger kick, blending both worlds together.
