DIOR UNVEILS THE WINTER 2024-2025 MEN'S COLLECTION
In a convergence of the functional and the poetic, the utilitarian and the graceful, the Dior Winter 2024-2025 collection, conceived by Kim Jones, fuses the reality of ready-to-wear with the subtle theatricality of couture in a quintessential display of excellence. Like an ode to the art of ballet—and to the beauty of the body in motion that so fascinated Christian Dior—the looks are suffused with timeless elegance, inhabited by the flamboyant spirit of Rudolf Nureyev. This collection also offers an opportunity for the Artistic Director of Men's Lines to pay a heartfelt tribute to his uncle, documentary photographer Colin Jones, a loyal friend of the virtuoso choreographer, whom he photographed extensively. The enchanting performance of color and refinement is further highlighted by captivating shots taken by Alasdair McLellan.
At the heart of a pared-down decor reminiscent of a dance studio, the creations reinterpret the house's heritage: tailoring is reinvented with new volumes, pleats, and cuts, while the iconic Bar jacket is fashioned into a masculine iteration and paired with the Oblique suit envisioned by
Kim Jones. Materials and shapes intertwine and merge; oscillating between discipline and extravagance, high socks are worn with various leg-revealing wool zipped shorts and
second-skin ribbed knits.
Facing the mirror, at the barre, models sport bold ballerina-inspired shoes. Leather goods, with their fluid curves, symbiotically balance practicality and modernity, as exemplified by the Saddle Twin and Camera bags, which are enhanced by the architectural graphics of the Maxicannage.
As a finishing touch, turban-like hats revisit those designed by Stephen Jones in 1999
for the women's wardrobe.
