CASIO LAUNCHES NEW LIMITED-EDITION MR-G INSPIRED BY THE JAPANESE KATANA
Casio announces a new limited-edition addition to the MR-G line, a collection from the G-SHOCK family. The new MRG-B2000JS honours the Juryoku-Maru: San, the Japanese Katana specially developed by Casio for the watches. The blade is forged by master swordsmith Kamiyama Teruhira and the aogai blue sheathe is designed by traditional artisan Nomura Mamoru.
The shock resilient design of the MR-G is based on the aesthetic of the katana. The recrystallised hybrid titanium bezel is crafted in layers of Ti64 and pure titanium that are subjected to blazing temperatures and high pressure environments. The material is then polished and shaped to replicate the motif of the Juryoku Maru: San. Aditionally, the band recalls the sword as its texture echoes the blue hues of sheath of the sword. Micro-leveling processing of DAT55G, a metal alloy thrice as hard as pure titanium, creates special structures that have the ability to reflect light.
Borrowing the same technique that is used for the swords, craftsman Kamiyama has engraven the Japanese kanji sign for San on the back of each individual watch, making each one unique. Such elements transpose all the delicate details of the katana into the Casio watch.
