MONCLER AND RICK OWENS COLLABORATE ON MOUNTAIN REFUGE AND NEW COLLECTION
After partnering on previous projects, like a customised bus for art installations in the Californian desert and an isolation sleep chamber tank, Moncler and Rick Owens collaborate on a new mountain refuge. Inspired by the Charlotte Perriand-designed lodges in the French Alps and made in consultancy with Hugh Broughton architects, the structures are made for off-the-grid functionality and durability.
The stainless steel shell constructions are composed of 20 precision-engineered thermally insulated panels, providing temperature retention. The footing additionally features adjustable legs with ball-and-socket joints, ensuring that the structure retains an even leveling in uneven terrain. And to enter the refuge, an airlock allows for gateway while offering protection against harsh weather conditions.
In true self-sustainable fashion, the refuge has a solar-powered energy system energised by photovoltaic panels, supplemented by a wind turbine. Sustainable water systems additionally allow for grey water reclamation and heating is provided by a lodge-burning stove and electric heaters. Though the outside might look bleak, the interior is lined with Moncler duvet nylon and felted wool blankets, creating a cozy and warm atmosphere.
And in a coordinated strike, the new Moncler and Rick Owens collection further carries this snug aesthetic. Based on soft organic cotton, bodysuits have the ability to turn into sleeping cocoons, perfect for hibernating in a stainless steel seclude.
The new collection is now available in stores and online.
