PLUNGE INTO THE BACKSTAGES OF THE MAITREPIERRE SS25 SHOW ‘LET’S PLAY’ BY HUGO DI ZAZZO

For its fifth anniversary, MAITREPIERRE puts geek culture and surrealism at the forefront, with intricate creations that defy the usual norms. The SS25 collection is imprinted with humor, with a gameboy serving as a tank top and a TV turned into a dress. Alphonse Maitrepierre offers us a political statement on the place of technology in our daily lives, so present it becomes an inherent part of us. The creative director digged into his teenage dreams marked by the duality of being locked in his room, and the awareness and active protest for human rights and freedom. Wiring, plugs, circuits and joysticks adorn the silhouettes in an electronic whirlwind, making us more robots than humans.

XXL bathrobes make the chicest dress to watch your favourite TV series in while stripes swirl like vortexes and put us into a trance. Kitschy prints reminiscent of Y2K pop culture sported on T-shirts add an adorable touch to the whole. The collection owes a lot of its superb to its amazing collaborators, with shoes crafted by CAREL, resulting in eight models made in Italy. Jewelry by Raphael Evergreen blends technology and 3D printing to evoke childhood nostalgia spent on console. Graphic hairstyle by Anne Sofie Begtrup and makeup by Ruby Mazuel using Kiko Milano elevate the looks and anchor the collection in its second-degree chic aesthetic. ‘Let’s play’ invite us to take a look at the society around us with children’s eyes, where fantasy and reality collide.
